QCell 10 Million Dalasi Education Initiative Reaches Grand Final
The symbolic event, the Grand Finale of the QSPELL-IT competition held at the Jama Hall Kairaba Beach Hotel marked the end of a 10 month long project organized by QCell in partnership with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The objective of the initiative was to improve the study of English Language and Information Technology in Schools and also build on the competitive mindsets. The Minister for Basic and Secondary Education lauded the initiative expressed her delight at the amount that was invested. She expressed her Ministry’s appreciation for the donation of Computers, QCell 3G+ USB Data Cards and Routers to all participating schools. The American Chief of Mission also expressed similar sentiments.
In the end, computers, QCell 3G+ Datacards and routers and internet access were handed to all 64 participating schools country wide. The winner Alagie Lamin Jallow from Nusrat Senior Secondary School went home with a brand new Dell computer, QCell 3G+ Datacard The Vice Chancellor of the University of Gambia Prof. Muhammed Kah also surprised six participants with full scholarships at the university; this included the winner, first and second runner up and the only three female finalists. As part of this grand event, the University of The Gambia (UTG), The Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education (MOBSE) and The Gambia National Library also received several computers, 3G+ Datacards and routers from QCell Limited to assist with the delivery of quality education to all youths. The Event was graced by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Trade Industry and Employment, Permanent Secretaries, Cuban Ambassador to The Gambia, American Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Regional Directors, Principals of Schools, teachers, parents, students, media and well wishers. |

The CEO of QCell, Muhammed Jah once again took to the stage a passionate speech on QCell’s investment on Education. He said that there was no reason why any young
Gambian cannot own their own company since he was able to own his own company and investing in other parts of Africa and beyond. He said he is motivated to do more each day because the less privileged children of his time believed he would grow and come back to give more to his community and now he is giving back to the whole country, to all children.
and a cash prize of D30,000. In addition Ebrima Sallah the first runner up went home with a Dell computer, 3G+ Datacard and a cash prize of D20,000. All other participants went home with certificates and prizes.
