The Gambia witnessed history on Thursday 30 November at the grand opening of QCity and the official launching of the first private television, QTV at Bijilo.
The grand event was graced by H.E. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia and H.E Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone who were there to open QCity the Gambia’s first multipurpose recreational complex and launch QTV. The event was graced by Ministers, Imams, Alkalos diplomats, members of the Sierra Leone community in The Gambia and thousands of invited guests. In his speech, the Chairman of the QGroup Muhammed Jah said ‘Establishing QCity & QTV is one of my major dreams since I started my business career and I feel happy today that I have accomplished that dream’
President Barrow in his statement at the inauguration congratulate the Chairman of QGroup, he said ‘I say to Mr. Jah and group, I am sure this commendable venture will be celebrated by all Gambians’. He also added that his government is proud of the QCity & QTV initiative and he is equally appreciative of Mr Jah’s firm commitment to discharge his corporate social responsibility by giving back to the community.
QCity boasts of a Olympic size swimming pool, 250 seats covered pavilion for the swimming pool area complete with preparation facilities, FIFA compliant natural grass football field, track for running, walking and cycling, NBA Standard Basketball court, Olympic Standard Volleyball and Tennis Court, outdoor gym and exercise areas, outdoor kids playground, indoor play area for kids, world standard indoor gym, fully equipped hostel, physiotherapy centre with massage and sauna facilities, meeting rooms, state of the art Cinema/Movie Theatre, conference centre, fast food restaurant with state of the art kitchen, A la Carte VIP Restaurant atop with a spectacular view, indoor vehicle parking areas, changing and locker rooms, aerobics facilities, QTV Studios and Wi-Fi access within the entire QCity.
